After listening to the podcasts 'Off Menu' and 'Table Manners' (go check out my blog post about these and other food releated podcasts), I got the inspiration to write out my own ideal 'Last Supper', where I tell you my ideal first course, main meal, side dish, drink of choice, and dessert.

First course

I have always been a big fan of Dim Sum. Growing up eating Cantonese-inspired Chinese cuisine with my family, I developed a deep affection for dumplings, especially steamed barbecue pork buns (chashao bao) and shrimp dumplings (haa gaau). Dim Sum traditionally includes an array of different small plates so technically I am cheating however I see it as a loophole. In my perfect scenario, I would love to have a variety of options including glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf, peanut and vegetable dumplings and rice noodle rolls with crispy bean curd. And of course accompanying these dishes would be different types of dips such as sweet and sour sauce, chili oil, and crispy fried garlic.

Second course

Whether it's Wonton Noodle Soup or an original Ramen from Japan accompanied by crispy gyoza, both dishes hold a special place in my heart. During my visit to Japan, my first taste of Ramen felt like a warm hug. The flavorful broth, chewy noodles, and vegetable toppings still make my mouth water just thinking about them. Wonton Noodle Soup, on the other hand, brings back fond memories of family gatherings from my childhood, especially when topped with crispy fried garlic. It's a difficult decision, but I would choose Wonton Noodle Soup as my top pick, with Ramen as a close runner-up.

Side dish

French fries. Preferably McDonald’s French Fries with tons of ketchup.

Drink of choice

Tea. This has never changed and will always stay the same. Earl Grey is the best, very hot and with some almond milk. While I wouldn't refuse English breakfast tea, this is my ideal menu, so let's get crazy!

Dessert

As much as I love my savory meals, I can't resist diving into a scrumptious dessert every now and then. And when it comes to dessert, my heart (and stomach) screams "Tiramisu, please!"

I would love to hear about your dream menu!
